This one was about the reproductive system. Of all the organ systems this one had the most ridiculous myths. Most about  female reproduction. It was once believed that the uterus hopped around the body like a frog.

I would like to design my entire living room around this piece. Definitely my office! J. Jeanes, is this possible?

It’s totally possible! At least it’s possible to have a print of this. I think the frog  person and “mushrooms” (*spoiler alert*, they are supposed to be penises) would make excellent wall paper if I could work out a pattern. Maybe that’s my next project…

A while back Dr. Doe of the youtube channel Sexplanations put out a call for illustrations, so this is my contribution.
I ended up choosing flowers and mushrooms because both of them are the reproductive structures of plants and fungi respectively (there’s something totally awesome about the words “fruiting body,” I just can’t stay away). They also come in a really wide range of shapes and colours and sizes just like their human counterparts.
As a bonus, the non-rose flower has the scientific name Clitoria ternatea and if you don’t think that’s the coolest thing then… well that’s okay, I respect your right to different opinions.
Hopefully this is subtle enough for most people, but then that’s what I thought about one of my thesis pieces and my professor looked at me and said “Those are penises!” (it was a forest of pink-tipped mushrooms)

White Scarab Beetle (Cyphochilus insulanus, Melolonthinae)
This is an illustration I made as a gift for my dad’s birthday, which was yesterday.
This illustration was based off of the fantastic photos of John Horstman, a.k.a. Sinobug (on tumblr) and itchydogimages on Flickr. If you haven’t seen his insect photography you really need to go take a look right now. It’s amazing!

I am opening up commissions! For now I will have 5 slots available and I will open up more depending on how much time I have and whether or not there’s enough demand.

If you’d like a slot, message me on tumblr (make sure your ask box is open) or send me an e-mail at jacquie.jeanes@gmail.com. I accept payments via paypal (at the above e-mail address). Once your payment has gone through you’ll have your slot and I’ll get to work!

But what are you actually getting? When the commission is complete you will get a high resolution digital file of the illustration for your own personal use.

Personal use means that you can enjoy it in your home, print it out, use it as a wall paper or even wear it as a hat! What you can’t do is distribute the work commercially, claim authorship of the work or sell the work. If you’d like to do any of those things talk to me! I will happily negotiate the rights of the piece for you for an additional fee.

That’s about it, if you have any questions let me know. And if you’d be kind enough to reblog this post I would really appreaciate it!

reblogging for the evening crowed :)
